Preface
So you are
thinking about retiring in the Philippines, either part-time or full time. Your
mind’s eye begins focusing in on an answer to your dreams, and you capture
images of a tropical wonderland, 7,000 plus islands, fabulous seascapes,
beautiful beaches, mountains, beautiful young Filipina women who adore Expats,
and being able to live within your means when your means aren’t as meaningful as
they used to be.
Yet, at the
same time, there is that little voice whispering doubt and fear, trying to stop
you in your tracks. It seems as if there are two monkeys on your shoulders – on
one side Monkey A is telling you all the reasons why it is the right thing to
do, yet on the other shoulder is Monkey B telling you all the reasons why you
should or could never to such a thing. These two monkeys always show up when
you begin to move toward your dream.
So you begin to
research the possibility of such an action. You go to the internet, and you
find numerous articles, blogs and books about retiring in the Philippines.
Perhaps you have even purchased one or more of those books. By now, perhaps you
have even read and digested all the facts and figures and pros and cons of such
a major change in your life.
What to do
next? Get the bad Monkey off your back and move forward to accomplishing your
goal of a retirement with dignity - one free of anxiety over expenses for
healthcare, housing, meals, entertainment, and travel; one where there is money
left over at the end of the month, even if you are on a fixed income of less
than USD $1,000 monthly, one full of fun, adventure and excitement in your life;
even a retirement with a new beautiful Filipina girlfriend or spouse.
Retirement Is Not A Matter Of Age
Contrary to
what most people think and speak - retirement is not a matter of age. it is a
matter of money. It is all about whether you run out of money before the end of
the month, or run out of month before you run out of money. Most people think
of this in terms of how much income they earn each month, and fret and worry
about how are they going to retire on their pension or fixed monthly income. In
today’s Western societies, the answer we always come to, especially in light of
the implosion of the world economy in 2009, is that we cannot retire, that we
have to continue to work until we die. Well, I have good news for you – I have
a wake up call for you!
There is
another alternative to working until you die – it is about reducing your monthly
expenses by 50% or 70%, which is the same as increasing your income. The
important number is not your income, but what is leftover at the end of the
month after you pay your expenses. This book is dedicated to showing you how,
by getting out of your comfort zone, you can retire NOW, and retire with a life
of fun, excitement, adventure, and romance.
In the pages
that follow, we will focus not so much on the facts and figures (plenty of which
I provide you), but rather on the process of finding the WHY (your personal
primary reasons for retirement in the Philippines), the WHEN (establishing a
firm date for the relocation), the DECISION (overcoming the doubt and fear
always associated with major change), the PLAN (to get it done), and the
EXECUTION (getting it done).
The
most frustrated people in the world are those who have a dream but don’t know
how to bring it to pass
To change the
future and be successful in retiring in the Philippines, you must have a recipe,
a template, a process that has been proven to work. It is kind of like trying
to build that dream home by yourself. You keep hammering nails in the timber,
but that completed house just doesn’t turn out like we thought. One problem –
we forgot to talk to the architect and get the blueprints. Yes, you can build
the house, but what will it look like and will it withstand the challenges of
time. Will it turn out to be a mistake?
The most frustrated people in the
world are those who have a dream but don’t know how to bring it to pass. This
book is dedicated to teaching you the process of how to bring your dream to
pass. It is dedicated to the 95% portion of what creates success - the DREAM,
the DECISION, the PLAN and EXECUTION of the plan. This is a process I have
learned over my lifetime, but is a process I can teach you in this one book.
Let’s get started and let’s get that Monkey off your back. |
